MEN’S HOCKEY WINS GOLD!!

Boy, was I ever excited!! It was a very very nerve-wracking game. Teeth clenched, clammy palms and blurs running through the screen as the players skated on the ice fighting so desperately to win gold medals. It was very special for us Canadians (or MAYBE even moreso for the Vancouver people) to win just because we haven’t won gold in hockey in a long time. Also our own Roberto Luongo of the Vancouver Canucks had the best record during the whole Olympic run on HOME ICE, and of course, for the awesome Sidney Crosby. Who wouldn’t cheer for one of the best hockey players of this generation? I know he didn’t really get to score much during the whole run but having the WINNING GOAL was worth it. What an accomplishment. It was just amazing!! My boyfriend and I were screaming as he shot in the gold winning goal and to see all of the other areas of Vancouver, Whistler, even areas of Toronto cheer as loud as they can on the TV screen was unreal. I had never been so proud to be Canadian.

Not only that, we broke records with this winning hockey game. First, Canada has broken the record in Olympic history for a country to win the most gold and Second, another record for a host country to win the most gold ever! I was so proud. My boyfriend said he was especially very proud of the female Canadian athletes because most of the women won our gold. They really kicked some ass this winter olympics. I am so proud and happy. It was a great day.

It’s kinda sad to have it all over. It actually was very fun for the while it was all happening. Seeing so many different nations in one place, everyone constantly cheering and seeing ABSOLUTELY everyone sporting some Canadian apparel whether it be a jacket, a hat, gloves, scarves, shirts or even all of the above. I got myself a pair of the red 2010 mitten which is a nice keepsake because I got to live through it myself since it was residing right here in my hometown of Vancouver. It’s definitely a memory to keep.

So other than the 2010 Olympic hype, funny but weird and stupid thing happened tonight while I was out with my boyfriend and a few good friends. We were all at Tim Horton’s having our coffee and talking outside, this guy pulled up in a crazy yellow truck that was all done out with hydrolics. He went in to buy some coffee and when he came out and was about to get into his car, some stupid guy came out of SUV and was complimenting the guy on his truck. We all thought it was his buddy but it wasn’t. The guy tried to swipe the keys out of his hand and just got in his truck. The guy got on his phone and I think was trying to call the cops. As soon as he got on the phone, the idiot guy got out of the truck and tried to get back to his buddies and they drove away all hollering stupid shit, being real big dicks. My boyfriend tried to get the licence plate number but it was dark. It was really weird. The guy thanked us though for witnessing the whole thing and was really nice about it. Stupid people these days. What the fuck is that??

I am also very happy about the late Valentine’s gift my boyfriend got me. For a couple of weeks now my boyfriend said that he had a gift for me but he’s still preparing it so he was stalling for a quite a while. But then just on Saturday night, he surprised me with this bracelet that I love sooo much!! It was the exact same bracelet that he gave me 2 years ago because I lost the one he gave me before. I was so sad and was crying and hadn’t stopped thinking or talking about it when I lost it. He knew how much that bracelet meant to me so he actually went out and looked for it. The place he got it originally from discontinued selling it so he had to go and find another place that sold it. He finally found a place but had to special order it. That’s why he kept stalling because it was taking a while for it to come in. I was sooo happy when he gave it to me and now I am making sure that I won’t EVER EVER lose this one because it has even more special meaning to me now. I LOVE IT. I LOVE HIM!!

So now that the Olympics are over, it’s back to school tomorrow and I am not at all looking forward to it. I have an exam on Tuesday, 2 assignments due the next day and I still haven’t even started on my research paper. I have a lot of work ahead of me. It’s going to be really hard to get up tomorrow morning. Boo. Back to school sucks.
